Biosphere to Noosphere
Communication of Possibilities & Potential.

Tim is one of New Zealand's foremost students of the Gaia (Living Earth) theory. His entertaining and insightful presentations (from 30 to 90 minutes) unfold a fascinating and forceful story about our home planet and how we perceive Life here.

In 1979 former NASA scientist Dr James Lovelock introduced a celebrated and controversial hypothesis -- that our planet functions like a living organism. He named it *Gaia* after the ancient Greek word for the Earth Goddess/Mother.

Flying through Gaia's "respiratory system" in near-earth orbit for 17 years as an Air New Zealand crewman, Tim experienced heightened perceptions of the similarities between our planet and the human organism -- and the abuses both are suffering.

Just as the organs, bones and trillions of cells in our body work in symphony for the betterment of our body, so the oceans, atmosphere, forests, mountains and biota conspire ("breathe together") in a web of relationships that is self-regulating and essential to sustaining life on our planet.

Within his commentary Tim hints at the metaphysical implications of this theory, and outlines our critical challenges -- global warming, climate change, pollution, deforestation, overpopulation, and war -- placing these "overwhelmers" into a perspective that enables us to take positive and self-sustaining action.

These presentations invite us (Gaia's offspring) to participate in shaping a new science -- geophysiology -- seeding the Gaia theory with the promise of human potential, and a dedication to preserving our home planet.

Tim has taught in China, Australia and at New Zealand's highest security prison, and since 2005 is the producer and host of the weekly Auckland radio programme GreenPlanet FM 104.6 www.GreenplanetFM.com

The programme highlights and interviews leading edge experts, practitioners in their field, and people who are living examples of sustainability. He and his guests cover environmental subject matter that is not often discussed in depth in mainstream media.

Above all, Tim is a passionate advocate for today's and tomorrow's children.
