Conscious Business Lisa Er was Business Woman of the Year for Auckland, 2000-2001, in the ASB Women Leaders Business Awards. for founding Lisa's Healthy Foods (aka Lisa's Hummus). For her it was nearly a ten-year journey from being a solo parent on the benefit, to running her own company, turning over $5m. In 2002 Lisa was named Her Business magazine Business Woman of the Year for the North Island. An ex primary teacher and mother of three remarkable young men, Lisa has many a tale to tell on how to move forward in spite of all that is going on around you. Her presentations are about entrepreneurship and inspiration, as well as building your own business. Lisa has been involved in pro peace initiatives, such as Nuclear Free NZ and the Aotearoa New Zealand Peace and Conflict Studies Trust, as well as working with immigrants. She was married to a Turkish Muslim for over 20 years and was a member of Diversity Trust, an organisation to help immigrants settle in this country. Her staff at Lisa's Hummus was made up of some 15 different nationalities. Lisa is a font of ideas about how to help everyone work together harmoniously. In 2008 Lisa stood as a candidate for the Green Party of Aotearoa in Mt Roskill (Phil Goff's stronghold). The campaign provided Lisa with further in-depth knowledge about the lives of immigrants and refugees in this country. In 2006, after selling her company, she founded a Forum group along with Dr Tony Minervino and Tony Knight. This group, which now has a data base of over 600, meets on Friday evenings to engage with guest speakers, arranged by Lisa. Most presentations are about alternative health systems and spirituality, as philosophy and how to live one's beliefs are among Lisa's passions.
